About Our Philosophy
Family Travels and Adventures was created out of a deep passion for travel, driven by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to explore the world. We are convinced that travel has the unique power to bring people closer together through shared experiences, creating bonds that last a lifetime. Beyond building cherished memories, travel broadens our horizons and allows us to see the world from different perspectives, enriching our understanding of diverse cultures and ways of life.
About Kristin
I have always had an interest in traveling, but the travel bug really bit when I was 16 years old and traveled to Spain as an exchange student for the summer. Experiencing a different way of life, seeing new places and applying my language skills in the real world sparked a life-long interest in travel. My first career as an educator allowed for plenty of travel time, and my husband and I enjoyed our 20s and early 30s adventuring around the world: sailing the Greek islands, trekking the Inca Trail and backpacking through Europe. When we were pregnant with our son, may people told us the adventures would stop, but we were intent on being a traveling family. And, I’m proud to say that we have lived up to that commitment. Some of our favorite family travels have been a land-based journey in Alaska where we kayaked among icebergs and dogsledded on a glacier, a safari in Southern Africa where we got to see the famous Big 5, and a small-group family tour in the Galapagos where we snorkeled with sea lions and sharks and swam with marine iguanas. I’m fortunate to have had a lifetime of adventure and I love tapping into this experience and knowledge to create lasting travel memories for my clients.
About Katie
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I always had the travel bug. In my youth, I traveled with my family on road trips across the country and to Southern California to visit my grandmother. After high school, I attended the University of St Thomas and received a BA in marketing, and this only increased my interest in travel. I went on college trips to Guatemala and Ghana and in my adult life I have traveled to 15 countries. I have also combined my love for travel with my experiences in the restaurant industry by owning and operating two restaurants in Costa Rica. But, Minnesotans often find themselves needing home, so I returned to be closer to my family and couldn’t be happier. Now, I can channel my passion for travel by taking trips with family and friends, as well as guiding others to explore their own passions through travel. Currently, I reside in Edina, Minnesota with my dog Vivian and my 2 cats that I adopted while in Costa Rica. My other current career is working in EMS.
